STEM at Eton Elementary

The Georgia Department of Education is dedicated to preparing students for 21st Century workplace careers by providing high quality educational opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields. In Georgia, STEM education is an integrated curriculum (as opposed to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics taught in isolation) that is driven by problem solving, discovery, exploratory project/problem-based learning, and student-centered development of ideas and solutions. The saturation of technology in most fields means that all students – not just those who plan to pursue a STEM profession – will require a solid foundation in STEM to be productive members of the workforce.  stemgeorgia.org

We are excited to have STEM based learning at Eton Elementary.  Each grade level is doing something that aligns itself to the STEM concept. Our school-wide, long term STEM focus is called "Save the Bees".  In addition to a long-term project, all grade levels are participating in short term projects such as building weather instruments, stream tables, recycling, building water filters, and many more projects. The possibilities are endless. Students are the ones who are making the decisions, problem solving, and creating solutions. It is hands-on learning that will help all students learn and become actively engaged.
